Homebuyer Spotlight: The Penas

Family of three people

When the Pena family decided to return to Austin from the Dallas area, they contacted us to help them find the perfect place to resettle with their daughter. The proud owners of Unicorn Pools TX, Inc., Carlos and Katie were looking for a home in a close-knit community with great schools to raise their family.

A crucial part of the homebuying process for any prospective buyer is financing. For the Penas, the best mortgage option for them was a VA loan. Carlos served in the United States Marine Corps and comes from a family that has collectively served in this branch of the military for over 120 years. Since being honorably discharged he continues to help veterans as a patient advocate and serves as a member of the Highland Lakes Honor Guard.

These loans are a great option for military servicemembers, veterans, and eligible surviving spouses. No downpayment is required or private mortgage insurance (PMI), closing costs are limited, and the home loan guaranty is a lifetime benefit.

With so many great neighborhoods and a healthy inventory of properties to choose from, Carlos and Katie had an amazing selection of homes to view without the same urgency that the market has required over the past year. After discussions about their preferences and careful consideration, Carlos and Katie narrowed down their options to three homes.

The Penas ultimately chose home #2

Looking back on their homebuying journey the Penas said, “We quickly found the house that felt right and put in an offer. Shavonne guided us through negotiations, and she and her team walked us through the whole closing process.”
